Our Programs

All programs are virtual and meet weekly, mainly in the evening.

Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing Social Justice Community

A 60-minute confidential drop-in virtual space to learn about the intersectionalities of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, sexuality, ability, mental wellness, and life-threatening despair (postvention). These intersectionalities are contextualized by history and the examination of social justice movements, theories, ideas, and artistic expressions to better understand the struggles and triumphs of minoritized and oppressed groups.

To be in line with our Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing Anti-racism and Mental Wellness Equity Statement,

We will work to build a diverse multicultural community through our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions (Paula Cole Jones, 2017).

Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing Peers Supporting Peers

A 90-minute confidential drop-in virtual peer support group of up to five peers. The basis of the group reinforces wellness practices (recovery), and members can share their lived experiences through their stories as a way to support themselves and one another as part of their resiliency.

Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing Life-threatening Despair Survivors (For more information see Alternatives to Suicide)

A 90-minute open confidential drop-in virtual support group where up to four peers are welcome to join. The basis of this postvention* support group reinforces wellness practices, and resilience, and members can share their lived experiences as a meaningful way to support themselves and one another. The group is a space for destigmatizing the challenges that peers who are attempt survivors, and those who are challenged with despair all too often face.

Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing Trauma Writing

A 60-minute confidential virtual group of three to four peers who write, share, and review pieces relating to trauma. Writing may be in the form of a memoir, short story, or other forms of writing. The group meets periodically for an hour to discuss the writing and anything else related to the writing or group.

Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing Creative Writing

A 60-minute confidential virtual group of up to four peers who write, share and review texts not necessarily relating to trauma. Writing may be in the form of a memoir, short story, poetry, or other forms of writing. The group meets weekly for an hour to discuss the writing and anything else related to the writing or group.

Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing Peer Creativity Coaching

A 60-minute confidential weekly virtual session where a peer or peers and peer coach meet. The peer coach supports the peer artist during the process of achieving the peer’s creative goals.

*Postvention is defined as activities that care for and support survivors along the intentional self-harm and suicide spectrum, specific to the recuperation needs of attempt survivors, attempt survivors’ family and friends and coworkers, loss survivors, first responders, and other unaddressed demographics. (Postvention Alliance)

Adult peers (18 years or older) of all races, ethnicities, abilities, and identities are welcome.
